Laurie Morrison (Miss Laurie)

Jacqui Cofield

DRUM & DANCE INSTRUCTOR

Jacqui has been involved with camp for eight years. She started out assisting in the Art and drum classes, invented and led a dance class, and now teaches Drums, Dance, and helps with all camp logistics. Three of her 4 kids have come to camp, and 1 more is almost old enough.

Music & Arts Camp helps marry all of Jacqui’s passions and talents. In middle and high school, she was an arts-loving band kid. Her instruments included French horn, mellophone, trombone, and anything in the drumline front ensemble, and she spent three years in high school as a drum major. After her time at the University of Florida, she taught in SJCSD for 8 years, teaching at Crookshank, LPA, and SJVS. Over the past 11 years, she’s also been a certified Zumba instructor, hobbyist photographer, and handlettering enthusiast. Teaching music, encouraging creative artistry, and helping every kid learn to love dancing will always be the highlight of her summers!

Dani Miller

DRUM & DANCE ASSISTANT

This would be Dani’s second year teaching dance with Jacqui, but she attended as a camper for 4 years. Dani has danced for 3 years on the Tocoi Creek High School dance team, and serves as a dance instructor for Tocoi Creek Theatre. She is an award winning choreographer who you may have seen on stage at the Limelight, singing at church, or teaching young thespians.

Jenn Michael-Gonsalves (Ms. G)

PUPPETRY INSTRUCTOR

This will be Ms. G’s third year teaching puppetry at the Amp, and she’s excited to return! It is such a joy to witness the campers bringing their characters to life- it never gets old. It’s an art that kids don’t see much of these days, so she feels honored to be able to introduce them to it. While attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, she had the opportunity to intern on every child’s favorite street: Sesame Street. She worked in their shop for a semester, studying under master puppet makers- it was magical! She went on to work in puppet shops for a bit after graduating before eventually moving into the world of costumes and fashion, landing my first job being on NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’. From there,  she worked on all types of stages, sets, and productions…from the Metropolitan Opera, to MTV, to Late Night w/Jimmy Fallon and everything in between. She covered a lot of ground.

She moved to St Augustine 9 years ago to raise her two boys and have thoroughly enjoyed introducing them to all sorts of creative bits and pieces from my past careers. She is currently the resident Costume Designer for the Limelight Theater, so when she’s not building puppets, you can find her there!
